Dan Guoqiang

Researcher at the Palace Museum, Beijing. Born in Shanghai in February 1942. Graduated from the Department of Art History at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1965. Member of the Communist Party of China. Formerly served as Director of the Office and Director of the Exhibitions Department at the Palace Museum.
Currently serves as Director of the Court Department and member of the Authentication Committee for the Museum’s Art Collection. Member of the China Artists Association. Specializes in the history and theory of ancient calligraphy and painting, as well as the authentication of calligraphy and paintings.

Authored over one hundred articles and published monographs including Appreciation and Collection of Ancient Paintings, Dai Jin, History of Chinese Painting: Ming Dynasty, Comprehensive History of Chinese Art: Ming Dynasty Painting, Authentication of Ancient Paintings, Masters and Famous Chinese Paintings: Ren Bonian, and Masters of China featuring Dai Jin, Wu Wei, Lin Liang, Lü Ji, and Yu Zhiding. Shan Guoqiang joined the Palace Museum in 1965 to engage in painting and calligraphy research.
